L293 burning up immediately

I'm trying to control a motor with an L293DNE h bridge. I hooked the circuit up to test and the h bridge busted immediately. No motor was connected at the time. Can somebody let me know what could be wrong? That battery in the circuit is a 7.2v 1200mHa NIMH. My circuit is attached. Thanks!

I bet 99% that a pin was wired wrong

I am not young and unexperienced anymore and it still happens.

No joke, wrong wiring is 99% the reason when chips turn into a heater.
