i try to use l298n motor driver in my project. i only made l298d and 32v power adapter connections. but its 5 v output was only 2 volts. when i made off and on a few times it works good. but in my circuit, in some point its voltage drops down. i change adepter result is same.L298 works fine with 24v 2a adepter. is there a situation that i dont know about l298d in higher voltage?
my 32v adepter is 625ma .
edit 1: i am using this board
motor driver can handle but maybe capacitors or voltage regulator not. what do u think?
actually it handles 46v but now i aware that it is only for motor driver. not for the board. and i couldnt find board datasheet. maybe its capacitors or voltage ragulator chips not handle. then there is another question, hpw can i found this board datasheet? i editted orginal post please look at it?
I would suggest that you forget about using that ancient and inefficient motor driver that is likely not appropriate for your stepper. If you tell us exactly what stepper you have we can recommend a modern stepper driver. Post a data sheet or a link to where you bought the stepper.
i am driving an electromagnet. so any driver with 30v capability fine with me. i pich theese because i am used to it and it is cheap. what is ur recomendation ?
it is definitely with boards. driver supports 46 volt but voltage regulator only 25 volts. this explains why my 27 volts adapter worked and 32 volt didnt.
I somehow, mistakenly, assumed a stepper motor and for that I apologize. If the L298 works for you, use it. But do pay attention to the max voltage on the components.
Do you need an H-bridge to reverse the current through the electromagnet? Or on-off or PWM?
The voltage regulator that supplies the 5V logic power on those modules won't stand much over 18V, some modules have a warning that says "if power voltage is greater than 12V, remove the jumper behind the 3 screw terminal block and supply external 5V to the 5V & ground screw terminals".
Which Arduino are you using? How much current does the magnet require?
