When I try to run my 2 motors (Provided by tamiya- should be rated to max 5 V)directly from 3V batteries (AA 1.5+1.5V) they run ok. But when i connect them through L298N H bridge they run very slowly...or do not run at all. Does L298N load the batteries a lot? do u guys face same problem . Solution?
The L298 uses bipolar transistors in the output. The Vce drop can be over 2 volts, so the 5V in is 3V or less to the motor.
The L298N is good for small 12V motors.
Use a modern mosfet driver for your motors, but you need one that is capable to operate at low voltages.
From memory, the L298 volt drop is 2 minimum, and it rises (if a drop can rise 8) ) to 4 at higher current.
