L298P Shield problems

Has anybody had problems with connecting the above shield with a UNO.
The pins on the L298P Shield seem very long and does not go down to the bottom of the UNO.

After uploading the codes successfully, I switch to the battery (which is fully charged)but no response from either UNO or Shied.
Can any one help

Which shield exactly; link (url) please. Remove the shield, put a ruler next to a pin and take a photo.

It doesn't have to as long as it makes decent contact; if the pins are too long, the shield might stand a little away from the Uno.

  1. A drawing of what is all connected would be useful. Where is the battery connected.
  2. What kind of battery?
  3. How do you know that there is no response?
  4. Is the Uno still connected to the PC when you try the battery or is it disconnected?

Best post a schematic showing all of the connections as you have them connected. Frizzy pictures do not count as schematics.

Can you please post a picture of your project, so we can see how the shield sits on your UNO.
