Hey there, I am inquiring to see if anyone would know of a way to assemble a large amount of NFC or RFID readers together. I don't know if arduino would suit my needs or not. Its for non profit museum, it would be something like a large chess board, so it could be up to a 100 spots (10 x 10 grid) of needed readers being able to report individual pieces being placed onto the board.
If anyone has any better way of approaching this I would be all ears.
That is incredibly similar to what I want to do, but I am not a electronic guy myself (software engineer), and was hoping for something a little more plug and play. Though I do have someone who can do the wood work and mounting. Do you think what you did would be achievable by a novice? I would need this to relay the information to a computer that would then display a graphical counter part,
The Technical Illusion CastAR kickstarter is developing an augmented/virtual reality display system that includes an RFID detector grid intended to detect pieces for board games. It sounds like exactly what you need here. The bad news is that the product is not due to be launched until September next year, but now you know that it's possible perhaps you can look at their demos and figure out what sort of technology is needed.
