largest chip that is not surface mount

what is the largest chip that isn’t surface mount? is it the 328?

Largest in terms of what?
Physical size?
Flash memory?

Sanguino is pretty big.

wow that was fast!

sorry i should have been clearer. it seems that the next step up from the 328 is the 1280, giving you a lot more ports to work with. however i can only find it in the surface mount based arduino

Here’s the biggest non-surface-mount chip I could find…it has over 600 pins!

looks good. what setting do i need to choose on the arduino ide?

Intel Xeon. You may not be able to power this off the USB port though. :sunglasses:

The 644P fits nicely between the 328 and 1280 and is in a 40 pin DIP package. The standard Arduino IDE does not support the 644P but the
Sanguino people that build a board using the 644 has the modification files needed to add support to the Arduino IDE. so between the 328, 644 and 1280 you have 32K, 64K and 128K of program memory and each chip has more I/O pins, serial ports, pwm pins and user interrupt pins then it’s lower member. It’s a very nice progression to have avalible.

Well, how about some quantum processing? ;D
