Anyone got a link to a good "do-it-yourself" desktop laser cutter w/schematics and software? (possibly useing the arduino.)
EDIT
Or info on a way to control an old DVD burner laser lens.

i'd guess(!!) the best way to tackle this would be to start with an stripped scanner. That way you could control X and Y axis quite easily. Next step would be to get a laser that is right for that job since i doubt that normal CD/DVD lasers are powerful(?) enough for that kind of job. I wouldnt be surprised if you wouldnt something less than 100mw green or even blue lasers depending on what you have in mind...
DVD/CD lasers are good for cutting cardboard or heavy paper.
Here is one I have found,
EDIT
And this one, - YouTube but can't find instructions for it.
