Laser suggestions

Hi I'm a mechanical engineering student new to Arduino. Currently I am in a group constructing a rocket stand to measure thrust. We are planning on doing this by means of beam deflection and use of the Young's modulus for the material. For this application we need a linear range finding laser that is accurate to around .01 mm. We are also trying to do data acquisition at a rate of at least 30 Hertz.

Are there any suggestions for Arduino compatible lasers that would be appropriate for this project?

The data rate is not a problem for Arduinos but the accuracy is going to be a challenge.

A Google machine search for "arduino laser rangefinder" brings up many hits. One that caught my attention was a hack of a Laser Rangefinder. The author claims accuracy of 1mm.
