The Lauch4j error is caused by turning on the wifi card in the laptop. You can turn your wifi or wireless off then lauch the arduino program.

already tryed those... please help me...
Have the same problem with Arduino 1.5.5. Updated to latest Java but that didn't help.
Arduino 1.0.5 worked fine though and also earlier versions of 1.5
If the problem is not getting away and u need to run the software frequently try the linux version of the arduino and run on linux platform or may be in some virtual machines before u solve the lauch4j error.
I could not get 1.5.5r2 to install either. I installed 1.5.6 (nightly) with same result.
I went back and installed 1.5.4 and it came up.
I then reinstalled 1.5.5 and now it works.
Something changed from 1.5.4 to 1.5.5 and its not good!
Try the suggestion of renaming the data file it worked for me
launch4j error corrected | Making Things Interact Fall 09?
It involved renaming the data file.

try to delete folder being created in Mydocument named arduino . And reopen arduino again
Yes, today I had the same problem.
The IDE worked fine last night Feb 5, 2014
Today, the Launch4j error was quite stubborn.
I tried AMPS-N solution, but I renamed the Arduino file in My Documents and restarted arching and it worked fine.
So then I copied my sketches from the renamed Arduino file back into my "new" Arduino file and the Arduino IDE started up just fine as well.
Curious... What is going on here?
I am running a Microsoft Surface Pro 2 128MB , fully updated (Java RTE as well) in a 64 bit environment.
I had the Ardunio 1.05 installed and working fine using a MEGA 2560 board. I even wrote couple of programs.
Today I tried importing a library file for a touch screen called Smart GPU2.
Doing so cause the program to hangup. I have not been able to start the Ardunio anymore. I always get the
LAUNCH4J error message. I am running on a desktop PC running Windows XP professional with service pack 3.
I have tried everything that has been posted without any success.
1- Changed directory names.
2- Removed and re-installed Java
3- Re-installed the Ardunio 5 times.
4- Cleaned the registery
5- I used to have a Ardunio directory in the "MyDocumet" directory. I removed it entirely and installed the
Program all over again. It does not create that directory anymore. It puts everything into the \Program Files
directory.
I need help please. I lost 3 weeks work.
Thanks
Bah
I have Similar problem .Just Delete your old Arduino Installed File and Use New Arduino launch . It will Solve ur problem
I had uninstalled the entire program and install it again without any success.
Is there a hidden file or a special file somewhere that needs to be deleted? If so, where that would be?
Thanks
Hello,
I just found out what the problem is. Ardunio creates a file called REFERENCES and locates it in the directory
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Ardunio. The directory may depend on the User name. So it can be
C:\Documents and Settings\UserXXX\Application Data\Ardunio.
This directory is hidden so you can not see it. You need to change your VIEW properties on the directory to see it.
All you need to do is to delete the file or directory.
Then Ardunio will come up. You need to setup your settings like Board type, Com Port, and so on again. Because you just
deleted the previous setting.
good Luck
Simply
delete or rename the existing arduino data folder, and restart arduino. then it works, and now you can just reuse the old sketchs and save in a new arduino folder.
the folder normally kept under user/my documents/ arduino.
