LCD 1602 wont turn it's backlight on

Does anyone know why the backlight wont turn on? I finished the soldering and I was excited to see how it works, but it doesn't. I did all my connections correct. I am quite new into these arduino things, so please don't go that harsh on me, it's my first time. Any help will be welcomed !

P.S: It doesn't display anything. I've tried different methods, but nothing works..

The power supply rails (top and bottom 2 rows) are split in the middle. You can jumper the split.

I feel soooo dum dum. Thanks, I really appreciate !!!

Don't feel bad. This is actually pretty common. I am pretty sure that I got bit by it when I got my first breadboards that were made like that.
