LCD display for weigh platform

Am making a weigh platform using 4 load cells, so am after some ideas for a lcd display bigger than 16x2 or 20x4, would like to use i2c, can find a lot, so just after ideas please...?

I would just use google with the size you want and must be I2C

What about displating the weight needs more than 32 or 80 characters?

Would like a bigger display to make easier to see.

LED 7-segment would be easier to read. Digits are available in larger sizes. How large would you like the digits to be?

Thinking about led 7 segment, can I do that i2c, was planning on using a nano, for size, so have not got that many spare pins, would like some smaller text under the weigh total

Yes, you can! I think even a multiplexer could solve it, along with some 2N2222 transistors for switching. For example, with 4 displays, you'd need 4 control lines plus 7 shared segment lines (not including the dots). You can use an MAX7219 chip, but unfortunately, you can’t do it over I2C.

Yes. Exactly which chip(s) to use would depend how large you want the display to be. Some larger LED digits need higher voltage than 5V, so knowing that changes the design.

Could that be done with 16x2 LCD?

It could be done with 16x2, but the text is small (even with bignumbers) so want to make things easier to see. Was thinking a touchscreen but the number of pins limit this.

Which is it? Too big or too small?

What about a Nextion screen? These are available in sizes up to 7" I think, with touch, and require only a few Arduino pins. You get PC design software to help you decide how the screen will look. Unfortunately I think this design software runs only on windoze.

Thanks - was thinking about a 3.5 in touch screen, maybe a little bigger, but would like it on i2c.

Thinking about might just as well use a mega, which would slightly bigger than the display

Thanks for the idea, have not come across them before, at first glance seem a little pricey

What about an old LCD TV? A Nano can generate a black & white video signal and use that to display large and small text.

If you will be buying, buy big.

That's big, and pricey

So far, all you have done is dismissed the ideas that forum members are generously giving you.

How about you get more specific about what data needs to be displayed and how large and how many the digits (letters?) need to be?

I am sorry you feel that way.

I am making a weigh platform to weigh livestock. Have already made one, using 4 load cells ( one in each corner). Using a standard 16x2 i2c lcd. it is not easy to see at times.

This one I would like to make the display bigger. A display about 2-3 inch, would like to use i2c. Truth is I don't know, am looking for ideas...

Fine, keep your secrets. Good luck.

Not big enough?
