16x2 lcd display isnt showing the top row of pixels on the second row.
When i increase the opacity it gets a bit better
What type of LCD is this ?
How many wires are there connecting it to the Arduino and have you checked the connections carefully ?
Looks like a hardware problem, possibly a bad connection between the LCD controller and the LCD panel.

Possibly an assembly fault.
Since it is a non-starter as it is, you could try disassembling the display by straightening the tags that hold it, slipping them out from the PCB and examining the two "Zebra strips" to see if there is a problem with them, then carefully replacing them and reassembling the display.
It might fix it, but if not, well it was a dud anyway!
