Dear all.

I need some suggestion for selecting display parameter for my application. Can someone guide me how to select display which suit my application.

My end application : timer switch for street light

this unit widely exposed to sunlight in Day time. time adjustment done in day time.

Question related to Display

Since i require segment display i am going with segment one

I can't help much, but LCD displays have special timing and voltage requirements which really means a dedicated driver chip. Unless you want something really special, maybe a classic 1602 display with yellow back light which is also visible in daylight without the back light would do.

The viewing direction, in case that is not clear to you, relates to standard 12 hour clock dial at eye level. for 12 you look up, for 9 you look left etc.

Well, those displays will be useless to you as you do not have the corresponding display driver.

The display which 6v6gt suggests would be the most suitable for your purpose. Mind you I am not sure which one is also visible in daylight without the backlight.

You may, however, also get good results with E-paper displays example:

and many more.

The glass LCD displays are probably only worth considering if you have very large production quantities.

@Paul__B the blue background 1602 displays are impossible to read without a backlight. The yellow ones are possible (just).

we can create display driver using 4094 & ULN2003 by driving each segment.

I found some manufacturer gives own driving method(Control IC) on back side.

As i understood . since my LCD are exposed to sunlight recommend to use HTN Display or FSTN LCD display

i need backlight for view the parameter.

for me problem in selection of viewing angle, polarized method,LCD drive method
