Hi everyone. I have a question about an LCD I have. The model is SXG0802B and it has 14 pins (8x2). I don't think this LCD is compatible with the HD44780 hitachi drivers bec it was a cheap Chinese LCD and I was wondering if anyone knows how I can still connect this LCD to my Arduino uno and if I need to download a different library and where. If you need more info about this LCD please ask. Thanks!
i search for SXG0802B on google ,not found
I think your post is incorrect. 14 pins would be (7x2). (8x2) is 16 pins.
OK, here's the rules:
Post the Web reference to it.
Post a picture - perfectly focused in daylight, showing all details clearly, front and back. Post it as a link in the text to where you have lodged the photo, not an attachment.
Explain why you mean by "14 pins (8x2)".
Now all that said, is it an alphanumeric LED (look at the faceplate in reflection) - the number strongly implies it is an 8 character by two line display. That being the case it is almost certainly compatible with HD44780 code with the standard pin numbering. Displays without a backlight do not (often) have pins 15 and 16.
Sorry. I realized it did have 16 pins. the 15th and 16th pin were on the other side. This model SGX0802 is only found on a few chinese websites when you google it btw. here it is http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=27351928931
ill try and post some pictures too
oh wait. i just saw that it is actually working now! i think it might just be the contrast on the screen bec i can only view it from a certain angle and i dont have a potentiometer to control it.
got it working! how do i delete this thread now? haha sorry for the newbie questions!

Try connecting pin 3 to GND.
If you can find some resistors (1000 ohms or less) try them between pin 3 and GND.

Of course you did!
And no, you do not delete threads. Why would you want to? Is that the sort of thing you do out of embarrassment to conceal the fact that you had to ask for help? Run and hide?
You can not delete threads because that would be rudeness to the people who have taken the time to help you. The advice given is not merely to help you, but to help anyone else with the same problem who (intelligently) searches the forum for an answer.
