Hi,
I am having trouble getting my LCD screen to work. I have wired it up and got blocks along one row. When I upload my sketch onto the board, nothing changes on the LCD. Can anyone help?
thanks,
Dominic Hale
So, you blindly connected up your LCD.
You blindly loaded some code.
And you want us to blindly figure out why it doesn't work?
no, I followed the instructions given on arduino helloworld tutorial
DominicHale:
no, I followed the instructions given on arduino helloworld tutorial
Then post them, and don't forget to post as well your wiring, your code, your everything.
Every information you give us raises up your chances of having a working project.

If you had correctly followed the wiring and coding of this tutorial your display would be working.
I have wired it up and got blocks along one row.
This is a good sign. Can you please post a photo of your wiring which shows the connections at the display and the arduino.

This is like going on a dating site and posting "this should be me" along with a photo of some handsome guy.
We need to see the code you uploaded on your board, your wiring, your hardware, images of your project.
Sure as hell, the guys back at arduino.cc know what they are doing. But you don't. And if we don't know what you are doing, how can we tell what you should do?
DominicHale:
here is a diagram i created showing exactly how i connected it. i cant take pictures at the moment as my camera is broken
You created nothing. That diagram comes straight from the Arduino website.
Here, I'll post a picture of me, playing the piano.
Not for kids
You never cared to post your code, your hardware, your wiring. Not even a pic of the problem you are talking about. If you really want some help, start by helping those who'll help you.
For the 3rd time: post your actual project. As for now, we can't help you.
We need to see the code you uploaded on your board, your wiring, your hardware.
I used the code and hardware that they used, and my wiring is exactly the same

Well then...
exactly like in the tutorial, it works just the same.
I'm happy your problem was solved.
