LCD Screen not working

I bought this LCD screen: http://www.oddwires.com/16x2-lcd-display-with-i2c-interface/

The pins were not pre-soldered and I do not have an iron at the moment so I stuck some header pins in the holes and connected it to the breadboard. I set it up with a pot to control the contrast which did work at first but then when moved the board, the screen came loose for a second and came back on. Now, only the backlight works and I can no longer see characters or change contrast.

is this common with these screens? Did I break it? or could it be faulty? Thanks in advance guys!

The pins must be soldered.

so its broken then aye?

Normally it's not broken, but the connections are loose or have only half contact.
These lcd displays are critical and expect GOOD soldering.

Use the forum's search and you will find dozens of threads where soldering was the main issue.
