my lcd keeps showing this symbol and im trying to get rid of it, is there any way i could do this?

Since you didn't show your sketch, this is only a SWAG, but did you happen to use println? Don't do that. Use print, and your library's equivalent to setCursor to position. Using println results in the library trying to print the CR and LF characters rather than reposition the cursor.
