LCD smartie arduino nano

HI All

I have code arduino nano using LiquidCrystal.h, i want to use module I2C for library LiquidCrystal_I2C.h, How can i fix code? Can you help me? Thank you very much

About LiquidCrystal, that's harder than you might think. Not because the coding is hard, but because there are a lot of different versions of LiquidCrystal out there that are all slightly different. Se we need to know exactly which versions (LiquidCrystal and LiquidCrystal_I2C) you are using. But if most likely all you need to do is call the right constructor. So instead of

LiquidCrystal lcd(8,9,4,5,6,7);

call the constructor (with correct parameters) of LiquidCrystal_I2C but do call the object 'lcd' as well.

But like I said, because of all the different versions of LiquidCrystal that can be a bit of a hell to find out. So I would suggest to use the hd44780-library by Bill Perry as an alternative :slight_smile:

For an I2C LCD display to work, the I2C address and the I2C backpack to LCD pin mapping must be correct. If the library default settings for either or both are not correct the LCD will not work. You can try to figure out the right pin mapping and use an I2C scanner to find the address, but if you install and use the hd44780 library that is done automatically by the library.

Install the hd44780 library. The hd44780 library is the best available for I2C LCDs. The library is available in the Library Manager. Go to Library Manager (in the IDE, Sketch, Include Libraries, Manage Libraries) and in the Topics dropdown choose Display and in the Filter your search box enter hd44780. Select and install the hd44780 library by Bill Perry.

The class that you want to use is the hd44780_I2Cexp class. There are examples to show how to use the library. The nice thing about the hd44780 library is that it will autodetect the I2C address and the I2C backpack to LCD pin mapping.

In the examples, there is a diagnostic sketch that will help us to help you if you still have trouble with the display. Run the diagnostic sketch and post the results.

Read the how to use this forum-please read sticky to see how to properly post code and some advice on how to ask a good question. Remove useless white space and format the code with the IDE autoformat tool (crtl-t or Tools, Auto Format) before posting code.

i have a module arduino nano uno connect lcd 20x4 with I2C i want to use them for software lcd smartie, i search code everywhere but i have not them, can you share code or somebody sharing with me. THank you.

Where do you get the idea that LCD smartie is compatible with an I2C display (post a link to where you found the reference)? The only thing that I can find on the lcd smartie site that references hd44780 LCD displays is for 8 bit parallel displays connected to a PC parallel (printer) port.
