Lcr tester, input voltage and ldo bypass

So I want to power the cheap lcr tester (

) and I wonder about why on the "data sheet" sellers say that input voltage is 12v max and 6v min while the ldo used is holtek HT7550-1 that has max input voltage of 24v and vdrop of 0.1v.

One guy did the reverse engineering of the tester (Full Circuit Schematic Draft 2017 AVR Transistor Tester Component ESR LCR Meter Frequency Generator - YouTube) and I wonder if I could remove the ldo and power it directly from 18650 with step up boost converter, so the efficiency would be better, but there is some additional circuitry around the ldo so I don't know if I just can attach wires directly from where the ldo was.
