LDR Monitoring - What Are The Numbers Out Of?

Hi all,

I am running my first project: an LDR and resistor wired as a potential divider, connecting to an Arduino analog input pin, with me monitoring the values received via the monitor function.

It's giving me values of around 100 in near-darkness, or around 1000 in bright light.

Would anyone be able to tell me what the maximum value is, so I know what that 1000 is out of? I need to work out the voltage at minimum and maximum light, so I can find the right resistor to give a stable enough reading to use the digital inputs instead.

Thanks!

LDR's can be wired in various ways and come in a multitude of types with different resistances.
Yours seems to be a decent one as its not going too low or high.

What we don't know is how you have it wired.
A schematic (even hand drawn) at this point would be invaluable in diagnosing your issue.

Either that or MAP the value which is a very useful function to learn.
