Capactive buttons are etched on pcb, its just a matter where and how to locate led so they backlit that buttons underneath

That looks like a piece of sheet acrylic with the shape of the buttons engraved in. The acrylic is then illuminated on the side so that the engraving stands out.

I did the same for my Maker Faire badge, see the attached photographs. I uses a very small drill just to go 0.5mm into the back of the acrylic and made the pattern backwards so that it is the right way round when you look through the acrylic. I use white LEDs.

Grumpy - what did you use to illuminate it? EL wire?

No just two white LEDs with them mounted in a hole I drilled in the edge of the acrylic.

As Mike said, it's just a piece of acrylic. Looks like a sticker stuck to the surface on that one, but you can also print a reversed image on the rear. I've done similar at work.

Ian.

Thanks guys. So far i've found a guy who does uv printing.i did tried at work with a bit black sticky tape under the plexi but the result wasn't as good as pictires show

Any one came across of that design? what are they using?? clear traces over the top glass?

Have you guys also came across of capactive lcd/tft panel that supports arduino?? i know adafriut has 2.8" but that`s way small for me.
