So well I’m planning to make my own diy steering wheel on my simulator, but I’m gonna use or at least planning to use momentary push buttons with led ring. It’s a 12v button I believe this is the link 16mm Metalen Drukknop met RGB LED - 6V - Puls so how do I have to get it running because the boards don’t support 12v output. Somebody who can help I’ll be really happy !
The specs actually say, "Lamp rated voltage: 6V". But there is wiring/polarity or current information. LEDs are actually "current driven" with a series resistor (should be built-in) to drop the voltage and limit current. I will probably work at 5V with slightly less brightness.
If it has an RGB LED it might be common cathode or common anode, and the common pin might be shared with one of the switch pins (the photos don't suggest it has many pins in total).
Without a decent datasheet or at least a technical drawing I'd not spent that amount of money on
an unknown device.
I am familiar with that button I bought a bunch from eBay about 2 years ago. Mine had built in resistors. I simply ran the 6V on 5V and they looked and worked great. The link says 6V but if is a 12V switch you need to add resistors in series with each LED color. You can power it up and measure the current and calculate the resistor. Or you can empirically determine the resistor value. There are a lot of automotive LED drivers available that will do the job for you. Many have 8 outputs in 1 chip.
Boy is it ever expensive on that link!
And no more useful specifications/ data that you get on eBay either.
