im still confused as to why I2C cant be over 1 m away?

Hi,
I2C was designed as basically a PCB level comms system, to allow local comms between systems at a PCB or enclosure level.
Not as a major system like RS232, RS482 to communicate over a couple of metres or more.

I2C will not have the noise tolerance for a start that the other systems have.
