LED Cube Spectrum Analyser Project

Hi,

I dont really require information but was just interested in what people thought about my project
Although I am not quite finished but any suggested improvements etc would be interesting also.
Thanks in advance.

Looks good to me.

neat!

It is 5 x 5 x 5.

Am I correct in assuming it is supposed to be:
5 non-overlapping frequency regions wide,
by 5 levels of height per region,
by 5 levels of history, present and 4 previous.

Also either your filters are not steep enough, or the ranges overlap, or the ranges are too close.
It should represent distinctly: LowBass Bass Midrange High and VeryHIgh

Are you implementing a 5 level bar graph, i.e. up from the bottom 0 to 5 leds on?
The levels should be logarithmic, not linear. Need very high volume to reach bar height of 5.

Time snapshots should be exact copies of the previous. Adjustable snap rate.
Don't know what looks best - each front to back plane is 1/5 sec perhaps, so an instant high clash dies out in about a secoond?

All same color leds is confusing.
The left to right (frequency direction) planes should use Red Orange Yellow Green Blue. (or reverse might seem better, Red is VeryHigh)

Just my thoughts.
Nice design getting all wiring out of the way cleanly.

Cool! 8)

Hey thanks for your kind replies :),

Hi Techylah,

The majority of what you said is on the money, this was a first real test and I do want to implement the memory going backwards.

Also it is the filter ranges overlapping at the moment that doesn't make it so clear, again with the levels these were initial linear parameters just to see it working.

Bit late to change LED's now :stuck_out_tongue: but I will update if I make other changes.

Thanks again,
Best Regards,
Luke

I have made some minor changes and updated the videos
