LED XML CREE Driver help

Hi guys,

I have a big problem here.

A lot of day ago, I burn my XML CREE T6 but my voltage was good 3.2V (LiFePo).

Must I use a driver if my voltage is correct.

Thanks you

John

Yes, with high power leds, you must use a constant-current driver, or you will burn your LEDs.

A constant current driver automatically adjusts the voltage to keep the current passing through the led at the desired level.

High power leds change their forward voltage as they warm up, so powering them with a fixed voltage is not good.

Google says that an XML CREE T6 uses 18650 Li-ion.
Using a LiFePo4 battery might have been the problem.

Why.
The price of a new torch is three cups of cofee.

Thanks for you response.

I go immediately buy a driver

John

Thanks for your response.

Despite a new search this morning, can you explain to me where you found this information ? (I want to understand why I didn't have find this).

I don't use a torch, it's for a arduino multicopter

John

Google points to a flashlight, but I think you mean the LED on it's own.
As others pointed out, you need a constant currrent driver for power LEDs.
Then LED voltage becomes irrelevant.
Look for CC LED drivers for torches on ebay.
