LEDs' will not light up

I am trying to make an LED hat with 257 LEDs. Each LED lights up when its by itself but when I try to run them all at once none of them light up. I am using a DC power supply with 5v led ribbon. This happened before so I cranked my power supply and burned out all of my LEDs. Does anyone know where I may be going wrong?

I dont have a good written schematic. I have 8 LED strips, 4 with 34 leds, 3 with 33 leds, and 1 with 32 leds. The leds are rated for 5v, they have a GND, 5v, and DI input. I am running them into a common 5v supply and comming GND with each DI into digital pins 2 - 9. Ill try and get some pics up, im on a hot spot and my internet is all kinds of crap.

Here are some pics. Some lights are on because it seems like it will work if I only have some lights on. When I try and turn on a lot of lights it just freezes when I upload the sketch.

257 267 addressable LEDs.
What do you mean with "a common 5v supply".
It should be 15Amp minimum.
Leo..

i can set the brightness of the led with the FastLED library which reduces required amps. but it dosent matter because i just blew my array out with my power supply. im incredibly upset now.
