Leonardo power issue

Hello.

I'm currently having issues with my Leonardo.

When I plug it into the PC via USB, nothing happens (except that corner of the board starts warming up). I've tried several cables, and made sure they're capable of data transfer.

When I plug it into a 9V power supply, the 'L' and 'ON' LEDs flash continuously.

I have an Uno as well, and was trying to use it to bootload the Leonardo. It's working fine, but when I connected the 5V from the Uno to the Leonardo, it disappeared from the Port selection. It seems that there's some short circuit on the Leonardo that causes the voltage drop.

When I had it plugged into the 9V PS, I measured the 3.3V and 5V pins, and they both read ~1.5V.

I also measured the pins on the Power regulator, and there's no short circuit between any of the pins, and they show the same resistance between them as the regulator on the Uno.

Any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks!

Sounds like your Leonardo is broken; drawing too much power.

Anything connected to the Leonardo? Disconnect everything and power from USB. Still the same?

What was connected when the problems started?

Which corner of the Leonardo gets warm? Can you identify the component (e.g. the voltage regulator)?

Thanks for the reply!

Nothing's connected to it, except for the USB cable.

The corner where the Reset button is located, right next to the USB plug, warms up.

However, I've measured the resistance across the Reset button terminals and there don't seem to be any short circuits there.

It's been a while since I last used it, so I don't remember what my configuration was when it happened.

I think that the component close to the reset button is the fuse that protects the device that delivers the power (e.g. PC). And that probably warms up or even gets hot.

Assuming you don't have the board laying on a conductive surface, I would bin it.
