Libraries and zip files

For a short while when trying to add a zip file library I try to find the downloaded file .
I go through "Sketch" "include library" "Add Zip library" I then choose This PC -- shows local disk "C". I click on this to display items in "C" . It will not display contents of "C" at all. Can display contents of "C" in other programs and this was the method I previously used but tried everything I can think of to resolve.
Any assistance please.

The pop-up window will show only .zip files. If no zip files in that directory, it will show as empty. Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the zip file. You should see it there.

Hi SurferTim,
Many thanks for your reply, there are at least 20 zip files on drive c but even when I set the search at the bottom to show "all files" nothing shows at all. The zip files all show in the directory I download to.
All the best

I should have made it clearer, I can not navigate from "C" to show other directories or files.

All the best

What do you trying to achieve by looking the zips by arduino? If you need to see the files on the disk - use a system file manager.

I use Linux, so I don't know about access rights to your C: directory.

@b707 The OP wants to add a downloaded library in zip format. I do that a lot.

Could you show a screenshots, first for your directory with ZIP files while using Arduino "Add library" tool, and another while using a system file manager?

@SurferTim , thanks, I understood

@b707 Just checking. If you are a Windows person, I'll let you handle this.

I use Arduino on Linux and Windows both, but I am on Linux just now
