lidar lite v2 and arduino zero

I have built a 3D laser scanner using the arduino uno and the lidar lite v2.
The machine works to a point producing 3d point clouds, but for a detailed scan we are looking at over 1 million points, while this is not the issue the time it takes is, currently at around 2.5 hours.
This time is impractical on the batteries alone, I have experimented with faster servo's and shorter code but concluded that the uno board is simply not fast enough.
With the maths involved in producing spherical coordinates and the small delays between stepper motor pulses the machine is recording points well below the capability of the lidar lite which can do above 500 points per second.
The only solution I have, since the hardware is built is to replace the uno with the 32 bit zero hoping that its speed will reduce the scanning time.
The problem i now have is that the zero board does not like the lidar library and will not compile the software.

any comments?

This time is impractical on the batteries alone,

Perhaps use a battery with a larger capacity as a first step. Which battery are currently (pun intended) using ?

There may be ways to speed up the code on the Uno so perhaps you could post it here for comment and suggestions.

The usual one when one posts nothing but a whine in the programming section. Post your code AND the error messages!
