Anyone know a good light sensor to plug into an I/O slot? Hitec robonova sensor is unavailable and bare wire photoresistor with bare wire resistor won't work...
Why wont a photoresistor work for sensing light? I guess we need to know what are you using the sensor for?
Why don't you get solar panels then?
You could get a few Lego Mindstorm NXT light sensors

Oh dear, someone mentions something expensive on the forum!
They are not quite as simple as just plugging it in...
Are we here to learn or read a simple instruction manual? ;D
Some people already did it, I'm sure we can find some code here and here.

I lost the link, but this detector is WAYYY cheaper than the TCS3200D discontinued brother. It was over $50 if I remember correctly.

Oh I was not saying alternatives were cheaper but it's still expensive
He asked for a suggestion ;D
But yeah...expensive. On the bright side, it does detect different light colors other than white and black! Not that you can get the same thing for about $5, but... :
The lego one doesn't detect colour very well at all.
This is my first robot. I don't know how to solder anything, don't want to have to solder anything right now, and certainly don't have the tools. That's why bare wire won't work.
I actually am looking for a photoresistor... sorry for the odd wording.
Well if it is your first robot then I would definitely recommend you get the tools.
They will come in very handy.

Like this one?
For right now I want one with an I/O plug; I want it easy since this is my first robot; sorry if I'm confusing you [smiley=tongue.gif]
There are lot's of different connectors is the problem.
Is this what you're looking for?

Maybe this with an added dual female coupler?

BTW, when he says this is his first robot I believe he's talking about this...
and not this...
If you're 100% against learning to solder (you really should) then get a solderless breadboard and set it up like this;
(You can ignore the LED on 13)
That's what I want, biocow, and no, I am not building the robonova. I have designed my own robot, just using this light sensor.
Thanks for the links. I'll see if they have it in stock, although it is discontinued.
