Alright let me start out by saying I'm in the designing stage still and I'm no engineer. I know what I want to make and how I want it to work I'm just not sure how to control it. I've tried poking around online and in these forums but I just can't find what I am looking for. What I want to do is take a high speed linear actuator like the ERD10 from Tolomatic and then use a servo motor similar to the Tolomatic MRV11. The problem and where I start getting confused is controlling the servo motor. Everything I see here uses R/C Servo's that are just 3 wire however this servo motor uses an encoder and from what I understand needs a driver similar to Geckodrive Brush DC Drives and then needs a controller to tell it what to do. The thing is I don't see any reason why the Arduino or Netduino can't do this and be the controller too. Does anyone know how one would go about hooking up the encoder and controlling it.
