Linear bipolar motor

Hi all, is it possible to drive a bipolar motor from a relay instead of a driver such like L298n or drv8876 or whatever?
The motor is 5cc7cd52cdc42c3ae70ab84f5fc1db5b1594806108.pdf (maerklin.de)
This is a linear bipolar motor. For the moment I am using a pololu DRV8876 to drive it by puting a pulse of 14V during 200ms and it is fine. But I wonder if it is possible to streamline the process and to put a relay to di the job?
Thanks

Yes, you’ll need an H-Bridge capable of providing the voltage and power needed by the motor.
(probably 12V DC (reversible) at something less than 2A per motor.

I’d guess their proprietary controller senses the current when the motor reaches the end point, and stops at that ‘’*point. (quite easy to do).

Youlll probably need to do some reading and experimenting on the bench.
There are a few model railroaders on here - so you’ll possibly get some more specific help.

  • no pun intended.
