- Why does the Mega need a "second powersupply[sic]"? Is that "second powersupply[sic]", the 9V supply? Why does it need to be 9V?
2 power supplys 12V and 24V no third one.
It needs a second to be isolated from the IO stuff behind the optos.
the mega pro needs something between 6 and 9V which powers the rest of the logic cirquits.
- There is an "Opto bridge" AND more other optos somehow associated with the Mega?
there are multiple opto bridges between io and logic (16 Outputs and 16 Inputs thats why I put optos in the logic box output optos draw power from logic)
- What is the Shift Register for? Why is it "24V output"? Or is this a punctuation issue? Since I recall we were powering the Shift Registers at 5V.
I ordered some shift registers I want to try using them with 2 of those I could have 16 outputs with just 3 Optos.
- It's NOT 6-9V! It's 7-12V!!
mega pro is not an official board the supplier says 6-9V
12V to 9V regulator, to 9V connect 5V regulator
that way I would lose the isolation
needs to be 12V to logic power 6-9V (roughly worst case 400mA to be save 500mA)
and 24V to 5V for shift registers on the Output side (2*20mA to be save 50mA)
@ted: yes it is more efficient. But there are quite a few things which make me nervous:
Adjustable Efficiency 97.5% (why would you adjust the efficiency or did they mean Output voltage)
they don't tell the efficiency at 24V
what is the en pin?
could not find one in the 6-9V range.
