Linux installation - I can't upload - see error massage

Hello, I’m a newby on Linux and Arduino. I am using openSUSE 42.1 with Gnome with an Arduino Uno. I downloaded and installed the Arduino IDE (linux) I followed the getting started guide. So I selected BLINK, selected Arduino Uno, Selected the serial port (only one option? is this as it should be?) Clicked upload… and go a big red message…

avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "/dev/ttyACM0": Permission denied
ioctl("TIOCMGET"): Inappropriate ioctl for device
Problem uploading to board.  See http://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Troubleshooting#upload for suggestions.

I looked at the troubleshooting guide, but nothing like this is mentioned. I’ve googled it also, but got no where.

Please can someone offer some advice. Thank you Jon

Oops! I read the Arduino/linux guide again and entered the 'usermod' commands as it clearly states. Now it works! sorry to waste your time. Thank you for looking anyhow. Jon
