LM317 supply to Mosfet?

Hey guys this is a hardware question.

I'm going to use an LM317 to supply 1.8VDC/1.5a a IRLZ34N mosfet.

is there going to be any hardware issues with that?

The power supply is variable from 14.5v to 13V i need precision control So i want to use the LM317 to step down to 1.8VDC to limit max current and have a more usable duty cycle range.

I need 4 of these circuits to power 4 Magnetic shocks.

I've bench tested it and it works but will there be any adverse affects or longevity issues doing it this way?

I know I could use a Buck converter but i haven't found a simple enough schematic that can handle the voltage or stability needed

Aren't you meant to PWM the coils in such devices? Why use linear regulator if you've using switchmode
at the end?

As for stabilizing the voltage what's the issue with using LM2596 module?

Perhaps you should post datasheet for the magnetic shocks you mention, its rather important we know
exactly what you are talking about.
