Where can I get these?? ;-)

technically this uses the same technology that HUD displays, but I have to admit it is very cool

On the billboar behind the people stands: lumus

Google => - http://www.lumus-optical.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=9&Itemid=15 -

Quick look: - They are OEM, so they manufacture for other manufacturers. - They are in Israel and reachable by email : info@lumusvision.com

Mail them with the question how to order them, or if they can be made available to the (Arduino) tinkering society ;)

Please let us know the results,

I don't think they are cheap enough yet :astonished:

but I have sent them an email... let's see what they will respond

I've got to admit it is a great idea... rather than have a mobile with a tiny screen, a laptop, tablet, etc. you could have a wearable display that's larger than anything you could get... all it needs is an eye tracking module to act as an input device 8) ...and voila you can browse the web with a smartphone right in your pocket

I got a response >>>

Thank you for contacting Lumus. Please note that Lumus-enabled Video Eyeglasses are about 2 years away from commercial availability. At this point, it is our strategy to sell our core components to just a few industry leading Consumer Electronics manufacturers who will provide the finished product to the market. As such, we do not produce or sell the finished product, thus we cannot comment directly on pricing or specific features like connectivity. Currently, our relationships with such OEM customers are stricly confidential, so we cannot elaborate any further at this time. When our OEM customers are ready to market their Lumus-enabled products we will post such info on our website. We appreciate your patience and support.

Which means that they are still trying to find one.

:slight_smile: OEMs dressed in khaki … expensive gadget I think.

I love to get a set of these; 1280 x 720 with a 40 degree field-of-view, per eye - in what looks to be a lightweight "glasses-style" frame. That's way better than most other models (like Vusix) - though I know of a couple of other companies that make better displays (though well beyond even a pro-sumer price range).

All in all, these are devices looking for a market; when the Vusix and similar came out, I was hoping I would soon see them at Fry's Electronics, but I have yet to. These displays will probably be the same way. Ultimately, they are a niche product, and probably suffer from the same issues that any display that forces your eye to a fixed focal plane do, which is mainly eye strain and fatigue.

Which is really unfortunate - the possibilities for gaming alone are amazing (when, oh when will I get my home VR deck to play Dactyl Nightmare again)...

:)

Isn't it technically just an HUD display ? you know like those used on fighter jets ??
