Long distance help?!

Hey guys, as some know, i work as a dishwasher in a restaurant. At this restaurant i hate being in the kitchen, but am paranoid about dishes stacking up in the dish pit, sooo this idea was born.

I want to have one arduino underneath the table that holds the dirty dishes sensing vibration, then sending a signal to another arduino pinned to my shirt or in my pocket, to notify me there was a vibration sensed by the arduino in the kitchen. So i was wondering, how would i send a signal from one arduino to another?! over lets say.....100 feet or so? (through walls)....or even 50 feet? i was thinking bluetooth, but how reliable would that be over a distance!?

Any ideas would be great!

Xbee's is probably a better choice for this application.

ok, and, is there any way to use an xbee with a miniarduino (the postage stamp one?)

There are breakout boards that allow mounting an XBee, and that breakout all the pins on the XBee. Solder wires in the correct holes, and you're good to go.

awesome...and does anyone know of a simple vibration sensor i could use for this....i cant seem to find a simple one....also, do you guys think this would be hard?
