Long Range Bluetooth

I have used a Nano with HC-05 Bluetooth for my project so far. Overall control is from a Windows PC. However, this has very limited range, especially if indoor to outdoor through walls. Has anyone been successful in establishing a long range, stable, reliable bluetooth connection (100+ feet) between an Arduino and a PC? If so, kindly describe actual hardware and any other considerations.

Bluetooth is not designed for that (yet). So even if you get it to work it's not very optimal. I would go with a NRF24L01 or Wifi (ESP8266 for the win).

Title is kind of funny though. The next Bluetooth standard will be Bluetooth Long Range aka BLR :)

roodyj: and any other considerations.

BLE - bluetooth low energy - can be good for 60m but you have to have it at both ends.
