Long term logging with micro SD into different files

Dwood1003:
I have a project where I want to store individual data from five analog inputs in separate files -- i.e. one file per analog input...

It is far from clear why you would want to do this, and it is an approach you are likely to regret but, if you close the file after recording data, always good practice anyway, you can then open a different file to record the next item.

.The object has one opaque band on it. Each time the band passes the diode pair, I can record a voltage change............. I'll determine the average threshold and convert all values within a certain standard deviation of the threshold to 0's and the rest to 1's. I'll then just sum up all the ones and determine how many rotations over a period of time.

This may be a matter better solved digitally than anlogue in the first place

One last question, for how long do you think a 16GB micro SD could record this data? I plan to remove the micro SD cards weekly to compile the data. Perhaps daily if that would be recommended.

in view of the deafening silence on the little matter of the rate of data accumulation but in the light of the 16Gb, the only answer is - probably a lot longer than you think.
