Looking for a cheap identifier (RFID alternative)

Hello,

I'm trying to find some RFID alternatives to interface with arduino.

Basically what I want is when I or my friend takes an arduino in hand, to recognize is it person A or B. Lets say the maximum number of persons is 5.

Is anyone aware of some of-the-shelf products or something do-it-yourself?

Thanks

C

Maybe an iButton? It would make a gaudy nifty secret decoder ring.

bar code with a hacked scanner (smaller case) ?

bar code with a hacker scanner (smaller case) ?

And have your friends tattoo the bar code on their hands. ;D

LOL ;D :smiley: :wink:

hey...that's not such a bad idea :slight_smile: i had an idea to color my index finger and use phone camera as a scanner and a phone as a remote :slight_smile:

@kg4wsv
thanks a lot for your reply, i was checking ibutton 5 mins before you replied :slight_smile:

I think I'll change my platform, and maybe use an pda, witd SD card slot RFID reader, but the things is there are no RFID drivers fro linux (SDIO) crap...

I wanted to use an arudino in the first place oz i've been using it before and its pretty cool for quick prototyping, so i had an idea from the top of my mind was to make a nasty hack with some magnetic stuff and measure flux... :slight_smile:

For those of you interested in a topic, besides iButton, there is a RuBee (not to be confused with zigbee and RFID0 coz its a IP tiny tag, with a cpu and some ram.
