im working on a "breakoutboard" for keyboard switches. For those i need RGB LED's.
In my first prototype i used a WS2812 LED Strip. Works out fine, but i want to use THT RGB LED's with the size of 5x5x3mm. And i need an IC to control them. I would prefer them to be compatible with the FastLED Library. I simply like it and there are a lot of tutorials around, so i would like to stay in that frame work.
i tried to find just WS2812 IC's, but i couldnt find any...
I hope you can point me into the right direction :3 thank you!!!
The controller IC from WS2812 is available as separately packaged chip in the form of WS2811. These are available somewhat overpriced at a few places like WS2811 NeoPixel LED Driver Chip - 10 Pack | The Pi Hut but at least you are probably getting a genuine chip.
You can get them on Aliexpress cheaper but you have to be aware of counterfeit/clones.
