Looking for advice on how to build up a 433 Mhz scanner and decoder

Hi,
i am about to play around with 433 Mhz wireless components, for the moments we are running the RFXcom transceiver on 433 Mhz (rfxcom.com). In order to se the behavieur of different supplier's sensors, i would like to be capable of capturing the messages and to get the bit sequence out.
Does anybody have experience with this an could guideline me in realizing this?
