Looking for help identifying all the parts needed for a project

I'm embarking on my first Arduino-related project and was looking for some guidance on all the parts I'll need to order in order to get it working.

Essentially, I'd like to mount 12 momentary switch/buttons onto a wooden board that plays sounds on a speaker also mounted to the board.

The current parts list is as follows:

  • Buttons: Amazon.com
  • DF Player board to hold SD card w/ sounds and connect to buttons/speakers: Amazon.com

Edit: Looks like I'll need a breadboard to plug the DF Player into?

Here are my questions about the parts above:

  • Do I need to attach the DF Player board to another Arduino board, or will it run on its own?
  • Which of these parts require a power cable? I assume just the DF Player boards?
  • Will I need to buy special cables to connect the buttons to the DF Player board?
  • Will I need to buy a special cable to connect the speaker to the DF Player board?
  • I'm currently buying two speakers because each DF Player board can only accommodate 14 buttons and I need 24 total (so I'll end up using two boards each connected to their own speaker). Is there a better way to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Link to speakers since I was limited to 2 links in my initial post: Amazon.com

If you are wiring the buttons directly to the DFPlayer board, what is the Arduino there for?

A block diagram of what you are planning would help a lot. (PLEASE, no Fritzing pictures). Pencil and paper is just fine.
