Ok what kind of dock is it? How does it relate to the Arduino?
I take it this is an idea you want to have manufactured and marketed. If thats the case you probably need to start with sketching the idea out. Get the form and physical function of it worked out and outline its purpose. Then have it go threw the patent process. Then you can worry about the technical aspect of it. If your worried the idea will be stole then get it protected before you go about outsourcing the expertise to make it a reality. In some cases you may need to have a prototype on the item. Even if it isn't a working one.
