Looking for suitable IR Light sensor

Hello,
I want to make a light barrier. Is this possible without impulsing the IR diodes to a given kHz frequency?
Im looking for a IR receiver, that measures the IR light continiously and is able to read data analog like a usual light sensor does it.
Does that exist?
Range of the light barrier should be like 0,5m - 2m (1,6feet - 6feet).
Should work with 5V.

Thank you,
Giles

This might be the sort of thing you're after, but looks like Digikey may not stock them
any longer. I used them 7-8 years ago.

Should work with a continuous IR Led output, does not require 38-Khz, etc.

I'm a total newbie myself, but right now I'm using these:

haven't tried them on distances longer than 10cm, so I'm not sure if they are sensitive enough to do the range you were talking about. probably not. the datasheets kind of stink in terms of telling you that stuff.

edit: in the comments someone says range is good up to 6", but that's probably dependent more on the emitter, right?

thank you both!
Yes the range should depend on the emitter. I just added the info so everyone knows what im trying to do.
In the datasheet I found the information of 30V used for them. Do any exist that work with ~5Volts?

But unfortunetly for my project I wanna use 2 light barriers in a small desistance from each other. So I am just looking for the sensors.
Thus I though I gonna use IR Laser Pointers, but I saw them damaging things on youtube at focusing point. Is that normal?
