That sensor looked like a pretty good deal, and it is sold by LaCrosse in North America. So I Googled the model number and evidently, there are lots of problems with it, like "stuck" wind direction indicator and false wind speed outputs, under certain circumstances. Some discussion of the observed errors, theories on their cause and potential fixes can be found at several sites.
That sensor would give you a resolution of 360/16 degress. Not very high, but for home use it might be enough.
