Mac OSX setting up genuino uno

I'm using macOS Seirra 10.16.2
I've installed the Arduino IDE but and selected the right arduino type but I don't get my arduino coming up in the ports section click here for image
I've looked at the help page for mac but it just showes me how to set up the ide and then sends me to the guide home page and tells me to select the correct arduino but the page gives help for windows only.

How do I get my arduino connected to my mac successfully?

Thanks,
Matthew

Drivers are not installed, cable is bad, or board is damaged.

There is a plague of bad cables in the hobby electronics community right now - there's a bad batch making the rounds, and they seem to be making their way into some third party arduino kits.

You sure it's not a clone? The clones need different drivers. Check that the black chip near the USB port says 16u2 on it, not CH340G or CP2102 (those are used on clones, and need different drivers)

It's a fake, sorry...

Look at the markings on the black chip next to the USB port - it'll probably be CH340G or CP2102. Google that part number along with the words "mac os" and the version of your operating system. With CH340G, and new versions of MacOS, it can be a little hard to find the fixed driver (In sierra, Apple changed something in the OS that resulted in the old driver crashing).
