macOS X Mojave 10.14 Beta FTDI USB Serial Driver

Hello World,

I just installed macOS Mojave 10.14 Beta and when i connect an Arduino to the USB port, nothing appears in my Arduino IDE ports list.

if i try ls /dev/tty.* i just see /dev/tty.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port connected. On macOS 10.13 everything was working ok.

I tried reinstalling the driver ( http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP/MacOSX/FTDIUSBSerialDriver_v2_4_2.dmg ) many times, I also tried following How to Install FTDI Drivers - SparkFun Learn but the port never appear.

Suggestions?

Avoid USB 3.0 port!

Sorry? Can you explain your reply? What other ports do I have on my Mac??
Only 2 USB 3.0 available and they have been always working fine

They apparently do not work fine for the Arduino.

.

Having the exact same problem

I've reported this on Bug Reporter

What does that have to do with anything?

Oh goody!

I have the same problem. Arduino is fine, it works fine when connector to other machine.
update to macos 10.14 Beta 2 did nog solve the problem.

I have the same problem

I was having this issue and it turned out to be Parallels Tools causing the issue. I uninstalled that and the IDE can see the serial port again.

Anyone know if there's been any forward progress on getting this working? Sucks trying to dig up a windows machine just to upload code.

With my MacBook Pro running official (not Beta) Mojave 10.14.2, I only see the serial port if:

  1. Connect Arduino [Duemilanove, in my case] and MacBook via USB (note: Arduino is powered up),
  2. Reboot MacBook,
  3. Launch Arduino IDE.

The serial port is discovered (during #2) and shows correctly (in #3). Using Tools -> Port in the Arduino IDE then allows me to connect. Everything works: downloads to the Arduino, monitoring to see "Serial.print(whatever)" output, and so forth.

It just doesn't work with USB 3 after what I'll call a "hot insert." (You need to restart Mac OS AFTER plugging in the USB cable with the Arduino at the other end.)

oh man! really? is this a kind of joke?
do i have to reboot my mac every time i modify the code for the controller of an autonomous robot?
because after every compilation i've to disconnect it from the laptop and let de robot run freely by home.
