I would like to buuld a bot that will roll around a yard on a pre deturmined path. I would need some way of correcting that path. Simular to how tractors do. But tractors rely on towers setup to assist gps and new positioning tech thats not rradially available yet. So my thought is maybe out chunks of metal in the ground and a magnetic sensor that can tell if the bot is directly above it? Is that dooable? I need precision down to a few inches or so. Maybe about half a foot max.
I would imagine it's possible to say if you're above a chunk of metal, but what will you do if you're not? What usable information do you get from knowing you're not over a chunk of metal?
For that matter, does it help you much to know you are over a chunk of metal unless you can identify the chunk among its neighbours?
The bot will travel in rows. 60" appart. Ill know when im approaching the end of a row. I need to know if i have veered off to the left ir right a few i ches so i can adjust.
