So I recently moved into a new apartment and they have these plastic cards used to open gate to community. Trouble is I always have to like dig through my bag to find card and once i find it I have to roll down window and pull very close to curb to be able to reach the little stand i have to swipe card by. It works but... not super convenient.
Is there a way to make it work from further. Like if I bought a scanner, figured out the ID on the card, could i build a second 'card' that had a huge coil for instance and was permentantly in my car (in glovebox or something) so I could just pull up and it'd automatically detect the 'card' i made and open gate?
I don't think so - the scanner is the part on the pole, not the part you are presenting.
We have ID cards on lanyards for work, the end of the lanyard is a little reel. Try putting your card on one of those and keep it on the outside of your bag. retractable reel | Staples?
They are near-field devices, the clue is in the name. Typically a larger range means using a larger sensing
coil in the detector, but a larger area coil in the RFID will also help, but ultimately the limit is the 1/r^3
response of near-field devices.
